Objective of the event: The purpose of the industrial visit was to provide students with practical exposure to manufacturing processes, quality control, and industrial operations, and to understand how theoretical concepts are applied in the real-world production environment.
Brief description of the event: The visit to the Parle Biscuit Company began at around 12:30 PM. The company officials warmly welcomed the group and gave a brief introduction about the history of Parle, its products, and its market presence.
Factory Tour and Observations:
Students were guided through different sections of the biscuit production process, including:
• Raw Material Handling: Explanation on the procurement and storage of raw materials like flour, sugar, and other ingredients.
• Mixing and Moulding: Demonstration of how ingredients are mixed in large machines and then moulded into biscuit shapes.
• Baking: Observation of large ovens used for baking biscuits at controlled temperatures.
• Packaging: Automated packaging systems that wrap and pack biscuits in hygienic conditions.
• Quality Control: Insight into the rigorous quality checks conducted at each stage of production.
Strict hygiene and safety protocols were followed throughout the visit. The company staff answered students’ queries and provided useful insights into the management and operations of a large-scale FMCG industry.
