The webinar commenced sharp at 5pm with Ms. Gargi Guha Niyogi welcoming the students, the faculty members, and the speakers. Firstly, Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of student Affairs of the college, addressed the attendees and explained that the purpose of the webinar was to enlighten the audience about the various harmful viruses that exist in the environment and the prevention strategies that should be used to keep ourselves safe. He expressed his gratitude to the speakers for taking time out from their busy schedules and commended the efforts of the students and faculty members that organised the webinar.
Next, Dr. Subhrojyoti Bhowmick shared a PowerPoint Presentation and explained how Covid-19 isn’t the only virus we should be wary of at present. He talked about various viral diseases like Dengue, Chikununiya, Viral Fever, Influenza and Hepatitis-A caused by the common viruses present in our surroundings and what steps to take in order to prevent ourselves from the aforementioned diseases. He concluded his presentation by introducing the attendees with the concept of ‘Telemedicine’ where we can get direct consultations from doctors at our home using our Mobile Phones.
Following this, Dr. Shabnam Agarwal shared an informative Presentation on the various ways the Corona Virus is affecting our lifestyle, our physical health as well as our mental health. She talked about the precautionary measures that can help tackle various physical discomforts and mental stress caused due to the Global Pandemic. Lastly, the speakers enthusiastically answered all questions presented by the audience.
The webinar was concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi to the speakers and the audience.
