The college conducted a very informative and effective 4 day workshop on EDP – Entrepreneur Development Program from 19th September to 22nd September 2016. Here is the highlights of each day.
Day1 – September 19th, Monday
The first day was devoted to ‘How and Why to start a Business’ and was addressed by the Dean of the college Prof.Dilip Shah who conducted a very lively session with lots of real life examples. With his active interaction with the students, he was able to bring clarity in their thought process. He made comparison between starting a business and taking up a job and made students aware that to be successful, one needs to be passionate and have qualities of an entrepreneur. A strong foundation was laid for the remaining sessions.
Day 2 – September 20th, Tuesday
The second day session was about Importance of Advertisement and Communication in Business. Mr. Rajiv Soni, Sr. Brand Consultant took the session and made it interactive and lively. With his in depth and example oriented presentation, Mr. Soni underlined the importance of communication, advertisement and brand creation in business. He also gave practical and useful guidance on personal communication and interaction. The session Q&A session which were wide ranging and helped the young crowd to appreciate this important aspect of business.
Day 3 – September 21st , Wednesday
It was one of the most interesting session titled ‘My Journey’. The session was addressed by Mr. R L Mittal, Ex. Director. Sasta Sundar.Com which is a techno health management company. He shares rare insights into the qualities of an entrepreneur by giving examples of his own journey starting as a typist, and then went on to building a leading wealth management company Microsec and then Sasta Sundar.Com. He busted many a misconception on business and advised student to follow their dreams with passion taking small steps at a time. The students were highly benefitted in their interaction with Mr. Mittal.
The second part of the third day session was addressed by Mr. Quereshi who happens to be an ex-student of the college. Mr. Quereshi is into import and distribution of LED TV from China under the brand name Sky. He has set up a 500 man manufacturing facility in China. He shared details of critical moments, ups and downs faced by him in his journey to reach current position. His message- Keep Moving and never abandon your values. You are bound to meet success.
Day 4 – September 22nd, Thursday
On the final day, the students were briefed about various Central and State Government schemes for funding to MSME projects by Mr. DebashishLahiri, Sr. Manager, DIC Office of Kolkata.
The college organised a webinar “Budget Briefings: Discussion on the Union Budget”. The session was conducted by Sarvesh Mundra. He gave all the students brief impression on the budget. He highlighted certain points. In a year when the world was ravaged with the COVID19 pandemic. Finance Minister gave health the attention it merited. Health allocation jumped …
Umang 2014 hosted the event ‘Bollywood and Cricket quiz’ which was judged by Mr. Kaushik Banerjee. The event hosted by Nikunj Kothari was held in Room no. 27. It started at around 10:30 am and continued for the next half an hour.
On the 5th of January 2015 an International Conference on ‘Emerging issues in Global Economy, Commerce and Management: Opportunities and Challenges’ was held in the college auditorium from 9:45 am. The welcome address was given by Prof. Lalit Kr. Joshi, Conference Secretary.
