The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised an Intra-College Rifle Shooting Competition on 1 and 3 October 2026, bringing together students to test their concentration, precision, and composure. Organised by the Sports Department with support of the Power Hour collective and BESC NCC unit, the event featured 10-metre shooting for both boys and girls, encouraging students to explore a sport that demands patience, discipline, and mental strength.

The competition commenced on 1 October with the participation of NCC cadets, followed by a session for all students on 3 October. The event was held at Valia Hall, where participants stepped up to the shooting range to demonstrate their accuracy and ability to remain focused under pressure.

The competition began with Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, taking the first shot to formally inaugurate the event. His participation marked the beginning of a sporting event centred on sportsmanship, confidence, and discipline.

Rifle shooting requires more than physical control. Maintaining a steady posture, regulating breathing, and concentrating on the target are essential for performing well. The competition offered students an opportunity to experience these demands firsthand while developing composure and precision in a structured environment.

With equipment provided for the participants, the event also emphasised accessibility and safety. Students were encouraged to participate regardless of prior experience, making the competition an opportunity to learn as well as compete. The format allowed both boys and girls to take part, reinforcing the inclusive nature of the sporting initiative.

The competition also recognised participants’ efforts through medals, certificates, and a college trophy, adding a competitive edge to the experience. Beyond the awards, the event highlighted the value of trying new activities, stepping outside familiar routines, and developing skills that extend beyond the shooting range.

By bringing rifle shooting into campus life, BESC continued to provide students with opportunities to engage in activities that promote focus, self-discipline, and healthy competition. The event concluded as a celebration of sporting enthusiasm and individual effort, leaving participants with a memorable experience and a greater appreciation of the precision the sport demands.
