Report on Webinar organised by the Department of Commerce held on June 16, 2020 from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm
A webinar on “Socio- Economic Impact of COVID-19 in India and its Revival Strategies” was organised on June 16, 2020 (Tuesday) from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm by the Department of Commerce of The Bhawanipur Education Society on an online platform. The students of Post-graduation Commerce and the faculty members of The Bhawanipur Education Society participated in the webinar. Prof. Biswajit Mondal, Associate Professor, department of Economics & Politics, Vice Principal and Deputy Dean, Vidya Bhawan, Vishva- Bharati University and Dr. Saswati Chaudhuri, Associate Professor of Economics, St. Xaviours College, Kolkata delivered the keynote lecture.
Earlier, Prof. Paramita Chakravarty, Coordinator, Department of Post Graduation Commerce, Bhawanipur Education Society delivered the Welcome Address.
While delivering his lecture on “International Migration” Prof. Biswajit Mondal highlighted the challenges of the International Migration during this time of COVID19. The session brought an insight into the factors of Migration, theorem on factor prices equalisation, community production etc. He also discussed on how COVID 19 should pave way for peer to peer lending solutions for the companies
Dr. Saswati Chaudhuri delivered the lecture on “Valuation of Trust and the Pandemic.” It was a case study based presentation. She discussed how evidence based public policy is the need of the hour. She also discussed the dynamics of infection on social and economic context. Her discussion threw light on how some countries like Romania and some East Europian countries are better equipped to combat Covid 19 than other countries like Italy, France etc. She also discussed the measures for measuring trust between the people and the government.
The Question and Answer session was conducted by Dr. Dyuti Sinha, where queries of participants were addressed by the resource persons.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Prof Dipnnita Chatterjee, Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Bhawanipur Education Society.
There were over one-hundred and fifty participants who were enlightened by the valuable speech by the Keynote Speakers.
