Objective of the Event:
The objective of the workshop was to introduce students to the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence and to enhance their understanding of AI applications in contemporary professional and academic contexts. The programme also aimed to equip participants with the necessary awareness and skills required in an increasingly digitised world.
Brief Description of the Event:
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised an AI Workshop on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day in collaboration with ADIRA (AI for Digital Readiness & Advancement). The workshop was held at Jubilee Hall on 2nd May 2026.
The session began with an introductory lecture by Mr. Aniket Bardhan, a faculty member of the department, who provided a conceptual overview of Artificial Intelligence through his talk titled “World of AI or AI of the World.” He discussed the growing influence of AI across communication and everyday life, encouraging participants to critically engage with both the opportunities and challenges posed by AI.
This was followed by an interactive training session conducted by Mr. Joydeep Das Gupta, who introduced participants to the practical aspects of AI tools and their applications. The session focused on developing an understanding of AI readiness and highlighted how individuals can adapt to technological transformations across various professional domains.
The workshop was well received, with active participation from students, who engaged in discussions and hands-on learning throughout the session.
Outcome of the Event:
The workshop successfully enhanced participants’ awareness of Artificial Intelligence and its relevance in contemporary society. It helped develop a foundational understanding of AI tools and their applications, encouraging participants to explore AI-driven approaches in their academic and professional pursuits. The programme also motivated attendees to become more technologically informed and adaptable in an evolving digital environment.
