Name of the Activity: social welfare and outreach program on 03.05.2025 at Madhyamgram to meet children in Aashiyana Happy Home (Home for the homeless). Details of Resource persons: Not Applicable No. of Participants: Twenty-four (24) students and seven (7) faculty members and four (4) non-teaching staff were present from the Physics department of the Science Section of The BES College.
Objective of the event:
Curriculum activities in the College are not sufficient to fully built a complete person. Exposure to various levels of the society helps in all round development of a person. With this aim visit to AASHIYANA HAPPY HOME under Social Welfare and Outreach program is very much helpful.
Brief description of the event:
As a part of Social welfare and outreach program of BES College, Department of Physics in collaboration with NSS unit BES College and approved by IQAC BES College organised a visit to AASHIYANA HAPPY HOME( Home for the Homeless) on 3rd May 2025 at Madhyamgram. Students, Faculty and support staffs participated the Program.
Items of daily needs like 120 kg Rice,110 kg Musterd oil, 30 kg Moosur Dal, 30 kg Soya Chunks, 30 kg Sunlight detergent powder were handed over to the in charge of the Home. Total cost of the entire event was funded by the BES College authority. Some daily needs and Stationary items were donated by the students also.
Children of the home were very happy on meeting the teachers and students. On reaching the spot, they were given Perks and Dhania Nuts (snacks). Children enjoyed and performed songs in front of the students. Entire team also enjoyed the time spent with the children. They discussed with their in charge about their requirements and promised to continue the activity of serving them in future also.
Entire team came back in the evening with a very happy feeling.
Outcome of the event: Spending entire day with the children of the home and interaction with the founder of the home, gave the students a deep insight. The message thrives that anyone can serve the society overcoming every barrier like lack of resources only through determination and faith.
