Objective of the Activity: To promote emotional well-being among students and raise awareness about the importance and accessibility of professional counselling services, with a focus on managing stress and academic pressure.
Brief Description of the Activity: The Science Section of The Bhawanipur Education Society College, in collaboration with UMMEED Counselling & Consulting Services and the Seminar Committee, organized a Counselling Orientation Session on 24 April 2025. The session was facilitated by Dr. Sarbani Laha Samanta and Dr. Mani Das from UMMEED, who provided expert guidance and insight into the significance of mental health and emotional support for students.
The session emphasized the importance of seeking help in times of emotional distress and discussed practical strategies for coping with academic and personal challenges. The facilitators encouraged students to openly address their feelings and assured them of the availability of professional help in a safe and confidential environment.
Students were informed about the counselling services available on campus and the procedures to access them. The atmosphere fostered open communication, allowing students to ask questions and engage meaningfully with the counsellors.
The session was well-received, marked by enthusiastic participation and a strong sense of connection among the attendees. It served as an important step toward fostering a supportive academic environment that prioritizes mental health and emotional resilience.
Outcome of the Activity: The orientation session successfully raised awareness about emotional well-being and mental health support among students. It provided practical tools for stress management and highlighted the role of counselling in promoting holistic development. The interactive format encouraged student engagement and helped establish a trusting space for dialogue. Overall, the initiative contributed significantly to nurturing a healthier and more emotionally aware student community.
