Health practices create a preventive barrier thus promoting and establishing a sound health check-up status of a child’s psychological characteristics such as optimism, self-control, and confidence, and can also have a positive effect on both physical and mental health throughout life.
In this regard, The NSS unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a free health check-up camp for kids of Asha Nayan, Don Bosco. Asha Nayan is dedicated to the upliftment of the street children in Calcutta irrespective of gender, race, or religion. It provides these street children access to education or to vocational training so that they and lead a meaningful life and build their future.
Dr. Anup Santra from First Aid Treatment Centre conducted the health check-ups of the kids of Asha Nayan. The objective of the camp was to provide information regarding diet, exercise, and weight control. The health data of the kids have been collected. The idea was to make sure people are getting healthcare at the right time and seeing the doctor early enough before a small health problem turns serious. Information regarding healthy habits was explained to the kids. The psychological condition of the students was observed by the doctor. It was noted that they have poor dental hygiene and proper brushing techniques were advised to them and asked to consult a dentist in severe cases. Anaemia was another most noted problem among these students and proper dietary advice was given in severe cases iron supplementation was also advised.
We thank the college administration, Prof. Dilip Shah, and Prof. Gargi for their unwavering assistance in ensuring that the project runs smoothly.
