The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised a Mixed Martial Arts Workshop on 16 September 2026 at the College Turf, providing students with an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of combat sports while developing physical fitness, discipline, and self-confidence. The two-hour workshop was conducted from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and was attended by around 25 students.

The workshop was conducted by Arko Das Gupta, who guided the participants through various aspects of Mixed Martial Arts in an interactive and practical manner. Rather than limiting the session to a theoretical introduction, the workshop focused on physical participation and familiarising students with the discipline, techniques, and mindset associated with combat sports.

The session began with an introduction to Mixed Martial Arts and its importance as a form of physical training. Participants were introduced to the basic principles of combat sports, including body movement, balance, coordination, and maintaining control during physical activity. The emphasis was not simply on strength but also on awareness, discipline, and the ability to respond appropriately in different situations.

Throughout the workshop, students were encouraged to participate actively and learn through demonstrations and practice. Arko Das Gupta explained the importance of maintaining proper posture and movement while performing combat-related exercises. The practical nature of the workshop allowed students to understand how different movements require coordination between strength, speed, balance, and concentration.

One of the key objectives of the workshop was to promote physical fitness and an active lifestyle among students. With academic routines often involving long hours of sitting and studying, activities such as Mixed Martial Arts can provide an effective way to remain physically active. The workshop also highlighted how regular training can contribute to stamina, flexibility, coordination, and overall physical well-being.

Beyond physical fitness, the session placed considerable emphasis on discipline and mental preparedness. Martial arts require concentration, patience, and self-control, and participants were encouraged to approach the exercises with focus rather than relying solely on physical strength. The workshop also helped students understand the importance of respecting their training partners and maintaining control during physical activities.

The interactive format of the session kept participants engaged throughout the two hours. Students had the opportunity to observe demonstrations, attempt the exercises themselves, and learn through direct interaction with the instructor. This created an energetic atmosphere at the College Turf while allowing participants to experience a new form of physical activity.

The workshop concluded with students gaining a better understanding of Mixed Martial Arts and its role in fitness, discipline, and personal development. It also encouraged participants to view physical training as an important part of maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

With around 25 students taking part and Arko Das Gupta leading the practical sessions, the Mixed Martial Arts Workshop provided an enriching experience that combined physical activity with lessons in discipline, concentration, and confidence. The session served as a reminder that fitness is not only about strength but also about developing control, consistency, and resilience.
