The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized its first Orientation Program for the first years on the 20th & 21st of July 2015. The orientation program was themed D-Day refers to “The” big day in every student’s life, new beginning. This day earmarks a turn in their lives in every possible way. They all go through the same emotions; “Happy, Excited, Confused, Nervous and Curious.” Welcoming them all with a smile and fun filled information about the College. The entire campus was decorated with Streamers, Posters, Interactive Standees, and Signature Board with students expressing their “first day” views creating an atmosphere extremely modern, vibrant and youthful environment. There were six sessions of an hour each. Each session opened with a welcome speech by a present student addressing the newcomers as Be-ites followed by a College video apprising students of what the college entails its history, activities, vision, mission & the Bhawanipur Way of Life “Learning for leadership & Liberal Values”. The video was followed by an inspirational speech by the Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Dilip Shah highlighting the Mission Orientation. Mission orientation is a booklet designed in the form of a mission with message from the dean along with various facilities & enlightened students about the 14 collectives starting this year giving wings to their passion. Each session ended with a presentation by one of the Collective. The various collectives are as follows: GROUP A Vignette Expressions Crescendo Enact NSS Flames Bhawanipur AIESEC GROUP B Bull’s Eye Bhawanipur Chaupal AIM Shop Floor Quizzard MUN Utsav Prof Dilip Shah also introduced its first diploma Course COMMERCE PLUS. The huge disconnect between what industry wants and what academia has to offer in terms of trained manpower is widening. Our existing curriculum has comprehensively failed to address this concern, as a result of which, not is the employability quotient of our students at a perpetual low, but industry too suffers in the want to skilled performers on their payrolls. The end result is obvious – wastage of valuable National resources. Lost opportunities. Shattered Dreams. At “The Bhawanipur”, continuous industry feedback reveals that Tomorrow’s Problems cannot be solved with Yesterday’s Knowledge; leave alone prepare our students for the challenges of a World that is changing @ speed of thought. Commerce Plus will seek to address this dichotomy – by empowering students with skills that are not only cutting edge, but also ones that will stand them in good stead in terms of employability. Commerce Plus seeks to respond to this paradigm shift that is happening across Indian industry as we brace ourselves up to integrate in the wired world order and will seek to re-skill students so that they may attain critical mass. Commerce Plus is thus, not merely about the sharing of information – it is about the creation of Knowledge Warriors ready to take on tomorrow. Thus, whether one belongs to faculty of Arts or Science or Management-C+ embraces all. The response, as expected was amazing. The students were free to choose their preferred collective depending on their area of interest. The BE-ites look forward to the upcoming activities of all the collectives. Altogether a very exciting experience indeed.
