The Department of Commerce (Morning) at The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised an industrial visit to Mukharochak, a well-established snack manufacturing company in West Bengal, on 17th August 2026. The visit was attended by 47 students and aimed to provide them with practical exposure to manufacturing, quality control, business operations, and distribution, helping them connect classroom learning with real-world business practices.

The visit was organised by Dr. Barnasree Chatterjee, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce (Morning). The students were accompanied by Prof. Sankha Acharya and CA Nikhil Agarwal, with guidance from Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, and Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Vice Principal, B.Com. (H), Morning Commerce Department.

About Mukharochak

Established in 1950 in Tollygunge, West Bengal, Mukharochak has grown over the years into a prominent snack manufacturer in the region. The company currently produces approximately 20 tonnes of snacks every day, including around 6 tonnes of its signature product, chanachur.

Exploring the Manufacturing Process

During the visit, students were taken through different sections of the facility, including the production, packaging, quality control, administrative and warehousing areas. This gave them an opportunity to observe how a manufacturing unit functions from production to the final stages of packaging and storage. The students also gained an insight into the company’s focus on hygiene and employee well-being. Regular hygiene checks are conducted before workers begin their shifts, while production staff follow a dedicated uniform system. The students were also introduced to the company’s pre-shift meditation practice, aimed at promoting focus and employee well-being. Quality control checkpoints were observed throughout the production process, highlighting the importance of maintaining consistency and safety in food manufacturing.

Interaction with the Leadership

A major part of the visit was an interactive session with Pratik Chandra, Business Head, and Sanghita Chakraborty, CEO of Mukharochak. The students had the opportunity to learn about the company’s growth plans, operational practices, market expansion and distribution network. The interaction gave them a deeper understanding of the decisions involved in running and expanding a business.

Mukharochak has a strong presence across Bengal and is also expanding its reach in Karnataka, Maharashtra, parts of Odisha and the Northeast. Students were introduced to its varied distribution channels, including e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms, vending machines, institutional supplies and airline partnerships.

Learning Outcome

The industrial visit gave students practical exposure to areas such as production management, quality control, marketing, distribution and business expansion. Seeing these processes firsthand helped them understand how concepts studied in commerce and management are applied within an actual business environment.

The visit concluded as an enriching learning experience, combining a detailed facility tour with an interactive discussion with the company’s leadership. It provided students with valuable industrial exposure and a better understanding of the functioning of a modern manufacturing enterprise.
