The Bhawanipur Education Society College hosted a joint seminar under Project FIN-LIFE on 22 September 2026, in collaboration with the Board of Studies (Academic) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), and hosted by the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of ICAI. Titled “PROSPECT-PITCH PERFORMANCE-PROGRESS: Corporate Experience: Bank Appraisal to AGM,” the seminar was designed as an experiential academic initiative, giving students a practical understanding of corporate decision-making, financial systems, and governance beyond textbook concepts.

The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by the inaugural session. Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Vice Principal, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of connecting classroom theories with practical corporate realities. The event was graced by CA Mayur Agrawal, Chairman of EIRC of ICAI, and CA Hari Ram Agarwal, Chairman of EICASA and Vice Chairman of EIRC of ICAI. Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, delivered the keynote address, encouraging students to look beyond theoretical formulas and understand how financial decisions influence the lifecycle of a business.

The seminar unfolded through three technical sessions, taking students through different stages of corporate functioning.

The first session, “Pitch & Bank Appraisal,” focused on project financing, credit evaluation, and corporate banking. CA Ramesh Kedia and CA Rakesh Choudhury explained how financial institutions assess credit risk, evaluate project viability, and appraise funding proposals. Their practical insights helped students understand the factors that determine whether a business proposal progresses from an initial pitch to actual funding.

The second session, “From Finance to AGM,” shifted the focus towards corporate management and board-level operations. CA Alok Jha and CA Suresh Kr. Jhunjhunwala discussed financial performance tracking, internal audits, and corporate accountability. Drawing on their professional experiences, they explained how companies move from managing day-to-day finances to presenting formal performance evaluations before shareholders.

A major highlight of the seminar was a live mock AGM based on a fictitious company, “B Limited.” The student-led simulation brought formal corporate proceedings directly to the auditorium, allowing participants to understand the functioning of an Annual General Meeting in a practical setting. Prof. Vivek Patwari took on the role of Chairman and guided the proceedings and shareholder interactions along with the students. Ms Tripti Upadhyay portrayed the Company Secretary and was appreciated for her detailed scripting, organisation, and execution. Her explanations during the simulation helped the audience understand board terminology, statutory requirements, and AGM procedures in real time.

Following the technical sessions, the seminar provided students with a valuable opportunity to see how concepts studied in the classroom translate into actual corporate practices. The interactive format, expert insights, and practical simulation made the learning experience more engaging and accessible.

The seminar concluded with an emphasis on the importance of understanding finance and governance as interconnected aspects of corporate functioning. Project FIN-LIFE successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and professional practice, giving students a closer look at the journey from a business pitch to corporate boardroom proceedings.
