The word ‘whimsical’ is an adjective meaning playful or mischievous, which quite aptly describes our juniors. The students of semester VI and semester IV of the Department of Computer Science organized ‘Whimsical’, the fresher’s party, on 28th March, 2022, at the Concept Hall. The party was organized to welcome the students of semester II, to boost their confidence and to encourage their creative impulses. The party was a great way for the seniors and juniors to finally bond and unite to celebrate being part of the college.
The event started at 1:30 pm sharp with the welcome speech of the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, followed by the Dean of Science, Dr. Samir Kanti Dutta, Vice Principal of the Science Department, Dr. Pinki Saha Sardar, and the senior most Faculty of Computer Science Department, Prof. Sanjib Halder. The first performance of the day was by Rongit Mukherjee, a student of semester 6, who amazed the audience by his melodious voice. The next event was the Ramp Walk, where the freshers walked the ramp and introduced themselves. This ramp walk was going to be the basis of judgment for Mr. and Ms. Best Dressed 2022.
After the ramp walk, refreshments were served after which the performances for the Mr. and Ms. Fresher title began. All the participants were impressive in their own ways and the competition was really tough! To avoid personal bias and to have a fair judgment we had also invited 3 of our seniors, from the batch of 2018-2021, to be the judges for the title of Mr. and Miss Fresher 2022. To make the party interesting and to keep the audience entertained, a few games were also organized. We also had solo and group dance performances followed by a group song by the students of semester VI and semester IV.
After all the performances, the winners were finally announced by the judges. While Rayyan Sarwar and Priya Jain bagged the title of Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2022, Abdul Razzak and Kavya Gupta bagged the title of Mr. and Ms. Best Dressed 2022, respectively. All the winners were presented with mementos. Special sashes were given to the winners of Mr. and Ms. Fresher.
The party ended with a special DJ evening where all the juniors and seniors danced their hearts out. The air was filled with enthusiasm and happiness. The party was a great success and gave all of us uncountable memories which we will cherish forever.
